How many people do you interact with on a daily basis?
Put it another way, how many opportunities do you have per day to:
- Demonstrate your expertise
- Be your best self
- Help someone
- Show up
In this remote world that many of us still live in, its easy to forget human connection and how important relationships are. So I decided to do an interaction audit from a typical day. I jotted down the name of each person I interacted with – beit a Teams / Slack message, or a group meeting – all the names go on the list.
On this particular day, I had 18 interactions before lunch. That’s 18 opportunities to show up and be my best self.
For those interactions via written word (Instant Message), I paused and reflected on how well did I actually show up on those interactions.
Was I short? Yes indeed.
Did I just reply without saying morning, how are you? Yes I did.
By the end of the day, I had well over 50 interactions – that’s 50 people that I had the opportunity to help and portrait my best self to, on just one day.
These touch-points, no matter the environment or platform, really do matter!
